During registration, players will be asked to verify that they understand the rules below. We’re grateful for the opportunity to host what may be some players’ first formal (or online) tournament, so please don’t be shy to contact a T.O. with questions or special needs prior to registration! :D

Format
If you have questions regarding the tournament format, please contact a T.O. before the tournament begins.
- Double-elimination singles tournament. No player is eliminated until they lose two whole sets.
- All sets are FT2 until Winners Finals, Losers Finals, and Grand Finals, which are FT3.
- In the case of a draw, the game’s Judgement system is in effect.
- Between games in a set, the winner cannot:
- swap their character
- swap their super unless the loser swaps character / super
- If the last rule is broken, player 1 must reset the game with F3 before mutual combat begins and the correct characters / supers must be chosen. If combat is mutually engaged, the rule is moot.
- Players will be seeded to the best of the T.O.'s familiarity. Unrecognized players will be sorted into the middle of the seed.
- The bracket will not be finalized until the tournament begins.
Organization
All communication for the purposes of tournament organization will occur on Discord.
- Before the tournament begins, players will be notified of the tournament’s private lobby code. Copy-paste the code into Fightcade’s ‘Search’ to join the lobby.
- All tournament matches must be played in the private lobby.
- No casuals are allowed in the private lobby to prevent confusion.
- When your next match is available, a T.O. will notify you of whether it will be on-stream or off.
- on-stream: wait to be instructed to challenge your opponent and be ready to do so to avoid delaying the stream. Before the first game of the set, delay Super Art confirmation until the timer runs out, allowing the streamer additional time to connect as a spectator.
- off-stream: play your set right away.
- When it is time to play your set, challenge your opponent immediately. Do not ask or wait to be challenged. Accept your opponent’s incoming challenge when you receive it.
- If your opponent is not in the private lobby OR their status is not Available OR they haven’t challenged / accepted your challenge within 5 minutes, notify a T.O. immediately. You may be granted a bye.
- After any set, the winning player must immediately report that set’s scores on Challonge. If a score was reported in error, contact a T.O. right away.
Technical Difficulties
When notifying a T.O. of issues, do so privately via Discord DM as a courtesy to all involved players. Use the in-game chat to communicate with your opponent in the case of a technical issue.
-
Normal Lag: All players agree that occasional (or regular) rollbacks are expected between players due to the distance between regions and other uncontrollable factors. Players are expected to be courteous to each other and play out their set as normal.
-
Incorrect Character / Super Art: The affected player must notify their opponent before mutual combat begins. Player 1 must reset the game by pressing F3.
-
Incorrect Buttons: The affected player must notify their opponent before mutual combat begins. The match must be aborted and the affected player must configure and save their bindings in a Test Game before re-challenging.
-
Crashes: notify a T.O. and run back the affected game from the beginning.
-
Extreme and Unusual Lag: Report scores as normal and notify a T.O. immediately following the affected set. Include a screenshot of in-game ms latency (‘backspace’ key to show latency in-game). The offending player may be flagged for review and, in rare cases, may be retroactively disqualified.
-
Connection Failures (Black Screen): Notify a T.O. immediately after 2 failed attempts to connect and reboot both PCs before a 3rd attempt. Repeatedly reboot both PCs and re-challenge until the match can proceed as normal or instructed to stop by a T.O.
-
Game Glitches: If you have concerns regarding an in-game glitch, please complete your set as normal before reporting it to a T.O. In rare cases, you may be asked to re-run the affected game.
-
Players will suffer a loss if they:
- reset the game during combat
- suffer an unrecoverable input device failure during combat (such as a controller coming unplugged)
- lose their connection to the internet during combat
- are on the losing side of a coin-flip when scores are needed for the tournament to progress after not having been able to connect to their opponent
-
Players may be disqualified if they:
- are suffering repeated crashes during combat
- are found to have extreme and unusual lag after a test-game with a T.O.
- are having difficulties connecting to several opponents
-
Retroactive Disqualification: In cases where players are disqualified due to extreme connection issues, previously-completed sets may have their scores invalidated at the T.O.'s discretion. In the rare case that you may be instructed to re-run a set against a different opponent, your patience is appreciated.
